Hendrix College Athletics

Little Rock native Stephanie Benning is the first Warrior soccer player inducted into the Hendrix College Sports Hall of Honor.

She is the career program leader with 145 points and 64 goals to go with 17 assists on 255 shots in 62 games played. Benning was a three-time All- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team selection and was the 2001 SCAC Player of the Year. She earned SCAC Offensive Player of the Week five times and was selected to the SCAC 15th Anniversary Soccer Team. A two-time NSCAA All- South Region Third Team selection, Benning holds the school record with 20 goals scored during the 2002 season. She also lettered in basketball and golf.

Benning graduated from Hendrix in 2003 with a kinesiology degree. She chose to go into nursing and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2009. Benning earned the Excellence in Practice Award upon graduating from the University of South Alabama in 2014 as a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Benning has worked at Arkansas Children’s Hospital since 2008. Her nursing awards include UALR Nursing Award, Excellence in Nursing Research Award from Arkansas Children’s Hospital, induction into Sigma Theta Tau International at South Alabama and the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses at Children’s.
